Speaking of Hall of Fame nominees...
Inductees.jpg

Last month, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen (don't know one song), the Ventures and the Dave Clark Five were chosen as the next inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I had just heard this news, and over at Pop Candy (which is an awesome blog), people were saying how it would've been great if the Beastie Boys and Madonna had entered the Hall in the same year. I agreed, and then as I do ever year, I try to think of bands that are being overlooked.

Well, this year I found FutureRockHall.com, which lists just about every band and performer that hasn't been selected, and the year they were first eligible. The list (like the baseball list) is pretty amazing...Willie Nelson, the Moodie Blues, Neil Diamond, Genesis, Chicago, Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Carly Simon, KISS, The Cars, Joan Jett, B-52's, Rickie Lee Jones, Donna Summer, etc, etc, etc.

So once again, who do you think should be in? With others in comments, please.

Didn't JFK say that?
QuoteQuiz.jpg

Over at Mental Floss, YesBut friend and frequent contributor, Jason posted a quiz to test whether or not you've really been listening to what the candidates have to say.

In The Debating Game, there are ten quotes from political speeches. It's your job to pick the right candidate (just like life). I got 8 out of ten, but I guessed on a few, maybe all, of them. Give it a shot.

Mesmerizing

Remember the iPod Touch ad, created by a consumer that was so great, Apple flew him to CA and reproduced it shot for shot? Well - Wonderbra should perk up to this little work of genius and get it playing nationwide. Never have I seen a better example of product demonstration.(via Adfreak)

Praise for Apple's Genius Bar

While we usually spend our time posting funny videos, writing acerbic commentaries and promoting naked ladies, there are times when we've used YesButNoButYes as a personal soapbox to complain about bad customer service, most notably in aquaman's open diatribe to Sprint. So it's only fair that we redress the balance where necessary with examples of outstanding customer service (even though they are few and far between).

in a way, it's no surprise to me that it comes from Apple. Specifically, the people manning their Genius Bar at the Prince Street store in Soho, New York. At this point, I should openly admit to you that I'm a die-hard Mac guy, having started with an LC 13 years ago, and with an unbroken string of Macs since then - probably 9 or 10 altogether between work and home. But while there are many things in my life where I love the product and hate the Company (Sprint being a good example, where i recently had to teach one of THEIR reps how to get their OWN wireless modem working), Apple always seems to get it right.

Still - naming your customer service reps "Geniuses" takes some balls and gives them a lot to live up to. So, here's what happened...

Goose Gossage elected to Hall of Fame
GooseHall.jpg

In news that took place outside of New Hampshire, Rich "Goose" Gossage, the longtime reliever that pitched for the Yankees in the late 70's and early 80's, was the sole player elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, after 8 years of elegibility. Goose was one of the greatest (and earliest) relief pitchers in the game. And along with fellow Hall of Famer Rollie Fingers, had some of the most dynamic facial hair in the major leagues. Outfielders Jim Rice and Andre Dawson were second and third in voting, but did not get in.

This raises an interesting question. The list of great players that just miss being voted in every year is pretty amazing. In addition to Rice and Dawson, there's Don Mattingly, Burt Blyleven, Dave Concepcion, Tommy John, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker...the list goes on and on. And if we're talking about facial hair, it's a crime that Al "the Mad Hungarian" Hrabosky hasn't been voted in yet.

So, who do you think belongs in the Hall? (Amazing facial hair, or not) And if you've got someone else, please put their name in the comments..

The holidays are finally over, shipping schedules are back to normal, and I've finally put on clothes and found my way back to the computer (ok I'm at the computer at least). It's a brand new year for comics. If you're a Marvel fan you might even say today is a "Brand New Day". If you don't know what that means then read on.

Winners.jpg

Hey, anyone wanna be a pollster? Seems like no skill or experience is required.

So, what do we think it was?

Did the cryng thing get to all the New Hampshire women?
Did the press attack on Hillary (see NY Post covers) bring voters to her defense?
Did Edwards and Obama ganging up on Hillary at the debate backfire?
Or did people just wake up and think...hey, Obama's been in Congress for three minutes.

And on the Republican side, it was McCain all the way. But did you see the victory speech? 72 may not be the new 40, after all. And all those independents that went to McCain may not stick with him in the end.

What does everybody think?

PS; Is it me, or is McCain's wife kinda hot? In a cougarish, Stifler's mom kinda way?

404 Error

Whoops! We're not sure if it was your fault or ours (probably yours, we're good that way) but you've encountered a FATAL ERROR!!! Or at least, a pretty grumpy one.

Specifically the Latvians who run our server are telling us in a weird accent "Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 5]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtfeed' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580), Comrade!". Ain't life a bitch.

If you want to vent, email our slacker of a webmaster. Otherwise, we'd suggest going back, using search, or clicking around aimlessly on this page like a moron.

Have fun.
