I just watched The Don Rickles Project on HBO, and it is absolutely outstanding. It features dozens of actors, comedians and pure legends sharing stories, telling jokes, or just outright kissing his ass. And no one deserves to have their ass kissed more than Rickles. He is a king of comedy, and the God of putdowns. In addition to the guests, there are coutless clips, including Carson appearances, his lounge act, tv shows (remember CPO Sharkey), movies (Kelly's Heroes is a classic) and of course, the Dean Martin Roasts, where he truly shined. If you like Rickles, you have to watch this special.
On a side note, I looked around on the web, and he's coming to AC in January. Who's up for a roadtrip?
After the jump, a couple clips from the special, as well as other Rickles gems.
The Lounge Act
From the show, Don Rickles on his wife of 40 years
Sarah Silverman on Don Rickles
Also from the show, Sarah Silverman shares her earliest memories of the comedian
Rickles on Carson
Rickles on Letterman
Daddy Dearest Outtakes
A show I'd totally forgotten about, these are outtakes, where he really shined.
Daddy Dearest II
They're good, so I posted a couple.

Kelly's Heroes

...and Carson and the Cigarette Box.
Rickles broke Carson's cigarette box when he was guest hosting, and Johnny confronts him during a taping of CPO Sharkey. This is great.
