Satiating your Virtual Thirst

A project I've been working on for over six months comes to fruition today. Virtual Thirst was a competition to design a Coca-Cola experience machine in the virtual world of Second Life. Launched back in April, it generated a lot of press, and over 100 very detailed entries from all over the world. We held in-world mash-up parties, had a live music concert, and used all the mereging social media tools - YouTube, Flickr, MySpace..

The last couple of months has seen the winner of the competition, Emerie May, travel to San Francisco to work with top virtual development team, Millions Of Us, to build not just one, but a series of experiences that are now located throughout Second Life. And the grand unveiling happens today at 1pm EST at the floating Coke Pavillion above Crayonville Island, followed by a live performance by in-world musician, Matthew Ebel.

It's been a really fun working experience, and I can't wait for in-world residents to start playing with these things.
