Holiday strangeness: NASCAR invades Manhattan.
nascar_nyc.jpg

You see lots of strange things living in New York. But for the last few years NASCAR WEEK in NYC marks among the strangest. In the midst of holiday shoppers, tree lightings and Christmas Spectaculars there’s loads of horsepower on display.

Why New York City? Probably because it’s where the sponsors, the media, the ad agencies want to celebrate.

What all cool babies are wearing this Winter

As Jellio has begun his gift recommendations for the Holidays, I thought I'd share some inspiration for those having to buy for friends' babies.

These images came to me in an email, so if anyone know the original source, let me know so I can give some link love. More after the jump...

Gifting Galore - The NotCot Holiday Gift Guide
NotCotGifts.jpg

If you've been reading our blog for the past two years 1) why? and 2) you may remember I do a holiday gift guide every year. Well, it's not even December yet, and I've already seen literally dozens of gift guides, some are even pretty decent. So, this year, I'll just point out the great work being done by other sites, as there's so much of it, and I'm so lazy.

To start it off, I had to go with NotCot. NotCot has been one of my daily must-reads for years, and their gift guide does not disappoint. For the holidays, NotCot is posting an entire month of suggestions, with a different theme every day, in all price ranges. Here's the first day, which features the store Charles & Marie. You should check it out, and go back often if you're looking for gift ideas.

Poker can be an educational experience.
HoldEmLesson.jpg

I was playing hold'em on Facebook recently, and learned something new in the process.

I had a pair of queens, so I'm feeling good. The flop comes, and it's a three, queen and ten, so I'm feeling even better. I start raising, but not crazy enough to drive anyone away. Then I notice a conversation between two of the players. The guy was hungover and having a screwdriver, and the girl was baked...so this could get interesting. She starts talking about how she got high because she's in pain. She thinks she busted a rib last night while she was dancing. He laughs alot, asks how, and she says "doing Soulja Boy". Now i'm thinking what the hell is Soulja Boy? So after I was done playing, I googled it, and learned all about this new teenage rapper, who does a dance that people do at parties...prety cool dance too.

So if anyone ever asks why you would waste time playing online poker, tell them it can be a very educational experience. For example, I learned that if I watch two people having a conversation, I may not notice three of the cards on the table are clubs. And also not wonder why the baked girl is calling me when I go all in on the river. What I did already know though, is that a flush beats three of a kind, and I don't like being laughed at by baked teenagers.

After the jump, that dumb-ass dance.

What does one do with a 3.8 million dollar town?
AlbertTexas.jpg

Actually, it's a zero population 3.8 million dollar town. And the reserve price on eBay for Albert, Texas was only 2.5 million, which tells you there were a few people bidding.
