Ten Moments of New Romance

Sometimes you just have to give in to guilty pleasures. These are the songs I always feel embarrassed about when they shuffle onto my iPod, but what the heck. 26 years ago, I was a New Romantic, I had the baggy pants, the Tukka boots, the eyeliner. So here's a trip back to the Blitz Club, The Rum Runner, The Whisky A Go Go and Le Kilt - my Top Ten New Roomantic tracks. Strike a pose, people,

Like some New Romantic looking for the TV Snow...

It seems so sentimental, why should I care

Haunting notes, pizzicato strings, the rhythmn is calling

We're building fires that will burn until morning

Stay in time with the rhythmn and rhyme

Don't say I know what you're thinking, It's plain to see

One man on a lonely platform, one case sitting by his side.

Read a book and write a letter, Mother, things are getting better

Remember long ago when all the kids were

You better watch out, you better beware

All by Visage? Wow, it takes guts to dress like you did without getting a steelcap boot to the head. I remember The Face mag had Blue Rondo on the cover in 81 and the expose on new romantics movement. I had wanted to dress like spandau ballet's martin kemp...

Holy crap I hadn't thought of Ultravox in about 20 years.

Juls, I have to say, that's a pretty damn good list too.

I wanted to be more esoteric and include Ronny, Gina X, Shock, Our Daughters Wedding and Fashion, but I couldn't find videos.

To Have And Have Not by Ronny is such a great track. Produced by Midge Ure too. I'm going to do a Midge Ure Lunch Hour Veg next week :)
