FiOS Speed

Today I upgraded my internet connection to Verizon FiOS, and above you can see the kind of speeds I'm getting. It's like mainlining the internet straight into your jugular. I made a short video of the process, after the jump...

Halloween Movies
HalloweenHorror.png

It's Halloween! After the party is over, and the trick-or-treaters have gone to bed, it's time for a horror film festival! Sure, there will be Halloween movies on TV tonight, but there's no reason to go by the broadcast schedule when you have the classics right here on the internet, ready to play when you are ready to watch. You might want to watch the original Dracula from 1931, or the even scarier Nosferatu from 1922.

Or take a break with Tim Burton’s six-minute 1983 animation Vincent, or It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Ectoplasmosis has a collection of Halloween cartoons, featuring Count Duckula, Betty Boop, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

There’s a link to the first Frankenstein movie, from 1910 in the mental_floss post 38 Essential Facts about Frankenstein.

Need Coffee posted feature films all through the 32 Days of Halloween. Take your pick from this extensive list!

Metafilter has a list of links to more vintage films, documentaries, and radio broadcasts.

And we posted several collections of funny shorts here, on Frankenstein and the Wolfman, zombies, vampires, and skeletons.

Continue reading for a classic horror film that I haven't seen (or posted) anywhere else.

Robert Goulet: 1933 - 2007
RobertGouletNugget.jpg

You may have heard by now that Robert Goulet passed away yesterday, at the age of 73. Not only a great singer, but he had a great self-deprecating sense of humor, as well.

Will Ferell's famous tribute, after the jump.

- And The Perry Bible Fellowship comes to the comic shop

Each week we run down the 5 most interesting comics that come out on Wednesday. Here's what to look for today. Although there are a few Halloween themed books coming out today none of them are really worth noting so this is going to be a Halloween-free list today.

Greetings from the YesBut Halloween Mascot
DoggieLeia.jpg

A second round of greetings come from our Howloween mascot...Leia. It was close for a while. But in the end, Leia outlasted the Doggie Nun 137 - 108. This is a bit upsetting, as I was really pulling for the Nun to win. I was gonna give her a regular column, like Desperate Housewives recap from the YesBut Nun, or The YesBut Nun on the situation in Pakistan. But no, we've got a Leia Dog for a mascot. Oh well...any ideas on what to do with her would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Halloween

If we had a graphic designer on staff, we'd probably have redesigned the whole site for you today with a pumpkin theme. As it is, here are a noticed both YouTube and Google changed logos. If anyone notices any more today, leave a comment and I'll compile them here.

Also after the jump, the last 7 years of Google Halloween logos...
