The holidays are almost upon us. And as thoughts turn to peace on earth and good will towards men, I start chanting my mantra...I want that, and I want that, and I want that...
And so, it's time for me to start posting the things I find that I desperately need to own. Or as I like to call it...non-existant savings accounts for dummies.
I'm still in Halloween mode, so how about a little office prank action. This remote control tarantula could do some damage. Then to soften the hard feelings caused by a scalding cup of coffee to the face, give the cube mate some Vosges chocolate skulls. And finally...I don't know about you, but someone says giant zombie Lego men to me, and I'm hooked.
We all know about the rise of YouTube, and it's unstoppable stomping of the competition. Then came Pornnotube, a site also frequented by the team here on many occassions, for research purposes.
But it was only today that I happened across GodTube, where the tagline invites people to reach out and Broadcast Him. How do they judge, do you think, that my video is really Christian?
Watch out, Fools!

Each week we run down the 5 most interesting comics that come out on Wednesday. Here's what to look for today.

So far, it's been dog eat dog in the YesBut Halloween Mascot Competition. Today, it's career day (kinda) with a Pirate, a Nun and an Indian Princess going head to head.
UPDATE: Being the good Christian blog that we are, it was easy to predict that the Barking Nun would take that round easily with 55 votes, beating Bow Beard with 47, and Chief Wagging Tail with 27.

I've been thinking about this a brand new TV and Web channel - Firebrand. Billed as a celebration of "commercial culture", it's supposedly going to show back-to-back non-stop TV spots, hosted by a "CJ" (that's a Commercial Jockey), and aims to do for the commercial what MTV did for the music video.
When I first heard the idea, I was pretty skeptical - after all, TV ads are the things that interrupt the shows I really want to watch, and since we got TiVo in our house, I always fast forward. But then I got to think about Superbowl ads, and how popular some of our previous ad related stories have been, and I'm wondering if they might be on to something.
So , I'm going to do a little CJ-ing of my own with a look at why a channel filled with ads may not be such a bad idea. As chosen by me, the Ten Sexiest TV Ads of all time (probably, unless I've forgotten some).
Tis the week before Hallowe'en and so, all this week on the Lunch Hour Veg, things that scare the shit out of me.
Today - ventriloquist's dummies.
Nikki Katt is determined to have a better Halloween costume this year.
"Lars and the Real Girl" **1/2 (out of four): In this oddly appealing yet not-fully-satisfying film, Ryan Gosling stars as a stunted twentysomething who opens his heart to the one least likely - a sex doll.

You've heard and likely memorized all the usual clichés about love - it's blind, comes in all shapes and sizes, conquers all and, naturally, happens when you least expect it. In the case of "Lars and the Real Girl," these universal truths all apply, but with a twist. "Six Feet Under" scribe Nancy Oliver and director Craig Gillespie ("Mr. Woodcock") join forces to tell the story of Lars (Ryan Gosling), a stunted 27-year-old who is lucky enough, after years of solitude, to meet the girl he fancies. There's just one problem – she's not quite among the living.
Somebody, somewhere, had the genius idea to round up celebrities ranging from Ozzy to George Clooney, to ask who would win a fight between a Minotaur armed with a trident and a Centaur armed with a crossbow.
I spent a good twenty minutes on this site yesterday. Motivated? Industrious? Goal-oriented? Sure...all good ways to describe me.
Go waste some time, then vote for yourself.
This is cool...every single (or alot of them, anyway) Roy Lichtenstein painting, next to its comic book panel inspiration. Check out Deconstructing Roy Lichtenstein, a project many decades in the making
I caught this a little late, but if you'd like a ghost emailed to you on a daily basis, click here.
- Have I mentioned I'm addicted to Ghost Hunters. Next week is a live special.
- Is that Sean of the Dead playing Scotty in the new Star Trek flick....outstanding.
- In case you didn't see it last Sunday, here's Steven Colbert on Meet the Press.
- The brand using Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper in their ads is moving into CBGB's.
- And I hear Fenway has row 9 seat 11 reserved for him if he comes to the game.
