London Olympics Logo

The London 2012 Olympics Logo was unveiled earlier today. The BBC has almost 3,000 comments about it, almost all negative. The design was posted on Reddit as “resembles Lisa Simpson giving head.” People apparently hate it.

Of course, b3ta is making fun of it here and here and here.

Alternate designs have been suggested, including one that was pulled. It seems like everyone on London has the same question: how much did this hideous design cost?

Update: As many times as I looked at this thing, it took me two days to find out it’s supposed to be the shape of the number 2012. Someone else did that in a much more pleasant and clever way. Oh yeah, I hear the pink logo cost the equivalent of $800,000.

I'm so ashamed, a thousand years of cultural heritage, creative minds such as shakespeare and turner. constable's amazing landscapes and lucian freud's warped nudes. but what the dicken's is this?

and we come up with something that has no artistic or creative merit at all. i bet it was done by someone who went to a london art college, those talentless cretins last did anything genuinely creative in preschool.

it looks like someone cut up bits of fabric and chucked it on the floor to soak up the urine after they wet themselves after looking at dust motes.

I can't believe this logo was actually "allowed" to be published. How they justify that cost for such a hunk 'o junk, I have no idea.

It looks like a dancing block-man doing a jig.

Seriously, I think it's time that they just admit what the whole world already knows, it's terrible, and design something that is a bit more respectful to the long standing tradition of the games.
