Who is the leader in the race to give Christianity a bad name? Who trumps Jerry Falwell in bigotry, judgement, and hatred? You guessed it -the “Reverend” Fred Phelps. And now guess who is planning to picket Falwell’s funeral?
Phelps’ website is (and I hate to even type this) God Hates Fags. He maintains a page of scheduled funeral pickets. On the schedule for May 22, Lynchburg, Virginia:
Thomas Road Baptist Church 1 Mountain View Rd. This is for the funeral of the lying, false prophet Jerry Falwell. He was not a hero, nor was he honorable. He was nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing, and he has made those that follow in his folly to be twice as evil as he is.

What has Phelps got against Falwell? Jealousy? Or does he believe Falwell wasn’t bigoted enough? Or is he just an equal-opportunity hater? Maybe its a case of he who thinks he is without sin trying to cast as many stones as he can.

You should check out the BBC doc on these people, "The Most Hated Family in America" (YouTube had the doc broken up into seven, 8 min. parts). After watching it, I kinda felt sorry for this clown's followers, and not just their little kids. It really made me wonder what horrible thing the "Rev" had done to warp their minds so much.

No, he's the leader in the village idiot race. This man is no more a Christian than Hitler was. He needs to be prosecuted for the abuse he has pepetrated on his family (if you can prosecute a catholic priest, why not Fred?) His assets need to be seized for his embezelment of non-profit funds to support his family.
If he does indeed show up in Lynchburg, he might get a bit of a surprise. Southerners are notoriously intolerant of creeps and the good people of Lynchburg own guns. After the VT tragedy, I don't think they are going to be real tolerant of this moron. I've heard of the death of such a man in Missouri that took place in the public square at noon and no one saw a thing . . . Some good soul at this funeral will probably pound him into the pavement, at the very least. I hope the cameras catch it.
Allow me to posit a different theory-
I've read interviews with Fred Phelps, but I'm not going to cite my sources. You can find them if you google it. Apparently 11 members of their family are lawyers, and they've made a lot of money by suing people/towns who have taken action against them. I bet they WANT someone to attack them so they can sue. The whole thing just sounds like an old-fashioned tort racket to me. They do things that really upset people, but that are legal, and have a way to justify a motive for what they're doing other than simply inciting anger for suing. Then, when people attack them or ban them from picketing, they sue for assault/battery or sue for their 1st amendment rights. Makes a lot more sense to think of them as common thieves who rip off society (for lucre, haha) than as just plain old crazy. I can't wait to see them at SF gay pride this year. I always blow them kisses.

I find it ironic that these people are condemning sexual sins yet allow their young girls to dress very attractively. Even their hated Catholic Pope Pius XII condemned women from wearing sleeveless shirts!
