It's Memorial Day weekend and nobody is online, so I thought it would be fun to revisit a classic net meme. Before there was Second Life and avatar sex, there was the AOL chat room and "cybering," and before the Something Awful goons there was BloodNinja, a true OG (Original Griefer).

I only bring it up because I just found a site with all four ads, and Joey Ramone now has a home on my desktop. A constant reminder of how even from the afterlife, Kurt, Joe, Sid and Joey can manage to wreak havok on a little slice of corporate America. aaahhhhhhhhhh.

A couple of years ago, we posted a link to Floyd's eBay auction, which offered his exclusive VoiceVertising services. The high bidder was Halls Fruit Breezers. Millions of PR impressions ensued (more or less).

According to Lostpedia, via Gothamist, the paper reads as follows:

"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim’s loft. Concerned for tenants’ safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."

The first Star Wars film was released on May 25, 1977. Some who were around back then remember it as vividly as if it were yesterday. Lucasfilm is throwing a five-day party for the anniversary in Los Angeles, where fans are awaiting the rumored announcement of a new film. Wanna celebrate? For starters, you can bake an anniversary cake. Or catch up with the original cast members. Or just remember the first time you saw Star Wars. Those of you who were not yet born in 1977 have no idea what an experience it was to see this movie, without knowing what to expect. But I asked around and found some folks who were willing to share their memories of that first viewing.
