A moral tale.
Once I worked for a large ad agency, and we had a large cosmetics account. We had created a database that would allow fashion-conscious young ladies to input their skin type, eye and hair color, and get back a personal color combination to buy make-up. We assigned a young tech intern to the programming. But he fell behind, and towards the end of his tenure, we worked him pretty hard to finish the database before he returned to school. After several disgruntled late nights and weekends (without any extra pay) it launched just as he left us.
A few weeks later, we started to get emails passed to us from the client, from consumers concerned that their personal color recommendation was "piss yellow" and "shit brown.
True story. And the moral? I think it's something to do with socialism.
Which probably explain this story about chinese furniture manufacturers.

I assume that this was some translation issue coming from overseas (unlike your understandable disgruntled intern). Doesn't "niger" mean black in some languages?

As someone correctly noted, 'negro' means "black" in at least half a dozen languages, Romanian, Spanish, Portugese, Latin, etc etc etc. Let's politcorrect (am I coining a new word here?) Latin!
