I promise I'm not going to make a habit of posting recipes on YesButNoButYes, but this is a WTF moment. I've snarked about deep-fried Twinkies, pickles, Snickers bars, etc etc, but after this, none of that is a bit strange. Paula Deen is a chef for the Food Network known for her love of butter. She’s posted the most artery-clogging recipe I’ve ever seen, Deep-Fried Balls of Butter.
2 sticks butter
2 ounces cream cheese
Salt and pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg, beaten
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
Peanut oil, for frying
Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth. Using a very small ice cream scoop, or melon baller, form 1-inch balls of butter mixture and arrange them on a parchment or waxed paper lined sheet pan. Freeze until solid. Coat the frozen balls in flour, egg, and then bread crumbs and freeze again until solid.
When ready to fry, preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.
Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden. Drain on paper towels before serving.
Keep your emergency nitroglycerin handy. Excuse me, I've got to go get some strawberries to clear my head now. (via Grow-A-Brain)

Notice that she uses peanut oil (a healthy oil) to cook them.
Oh. My. Gosh. And I thought Pappa's beloved deep fired oreos were gross.
*snarfs down goat cheese and celery as antidote*

Just for the record, this was a joke included as a gag in her show. Her sons always comment that if someone could deep fry butter their mom would love them. A viewer sent in this recipe & she made it on her show to complete the running joke.
