It's time for the women to reveal something about themselves. Who's father is a football player? Who is terrified of animals? What instrument is Antonella Barba good at besides the mouth organ?
It's time for the women to reveal something about themselves. What in the world will we find out from Antonella? She's pretty much revealed everything
Jordin Sparks supports her football team. Of course, if you realize that her dad was Philippe Sparks, who was a professional football player, then you would understand her attitude.
The Good - Very good job on a very tough song. She also got out of R and B and is turning into a very versatile singer.
The Bad - Never pick a song where the background singers sing higher than you do. I would have loved to have seen a song that was performed (and mutilated) by Carrie Underwood - Love is a Battlefield. She could have done something special with that song.
The Verdict - Jordin came to play. She's competitive, just like her daddy, and like her daddy, she may get very very far in the playoffs.
Sabrina Sloan was a talk show host on college. She's looking to sing better than she talks.
The Good - Now THIS is a perfect example of a GOOD song choice. Take a popular song where you will not be outsung by the backup singers, a song that people know, and one that she can hit the vocals on.
The Bad - Not this song, per se. You have sang 3 R and B songs, and that's a problem against the 2 powerhouse R and B singer named Lakisha and Melinda. If you're not as good as they are, you need to get out of that realm, and she didn't.
The Verdict - If there is an upset, she's the one leaving. She has failed to get out of R and B land, and I don't know if the audience is going to send 4 R and B female singers into the Top 12.
Antonella Barba plays the violin. We have seen in the pictures that she is also very good at the Skin Flute and Mouth Organ.
The Good - Best performance that I've seen of her. Also picked the right song for her vocal range. She is also saying the right things to Ryan in terms of her being on the show, and she will still get the sympathy vote.
The Bad - Very pitchy all over the place, and she didn't tag the notes. Pales in comparison to the other performances so far.
The Verdict - This is going to be strange, but I wish she was a guy. If she was, her performances probably get her into the Top 12. Unfortunately, she pales in comparison to the other women around her, and, to quote Simon, this is as far as she goes.
Haley Scarnatto used to be a gymnast until she dislocated her shoulder. Let's hope she doesn't dislocate her voice, because she needs to sing well.
The Good - It's not a bad song. She did an 'ok' job. This would be a nice song to hear for Week 1 or Week 2...
The Bad - ...but not week 3. This is the week where it's time to go up against the best. This is not that song that's going to either showcase her range or get any sort of wow factor.
The Verdict - Good is good enough to get past the guys. It is not good enough to get past these 6 singers. At least Antonella has a lewd internet backstory to try to snag some votes. You don't even have that. An uninspired song plus a pitchy performance means that it's time to pack those bags.
Stephanie used to be very very shy. Then she picked up a vocal range and she sounded good.
The Good - Nice choice of song. She redeems herself in the second half after a shaky after first half.
The Bad - This is not her best effort. A very pitchy start for the first half of the song makes me wonder if Antonella was sticking pins in s Stephanie Voodoo doll backstage.
The Verdict - Stephanie better hope that the audience preferred her first 2 weeks performances than this week's effort. I think they will, but she didn't do herself any favors this week.
Lakisha wants you to know that she's terrified of animals. how she deals with SImon on a weekly basis is beyond me.
The Good - She's Lakisha. She's not going to screw up a song. She doesn't here. And she dresses much better.
The Bad - 'I have nothing' is the staple of Idol Audition songs that we hear in one form or another every single year. Zzzzzzzz. Truly she could have found something else that's and Rhythm and Blues that she could have nailed. And she didn't nail this one. Easily the weakest of the three weeks worth of performances.
The Verdict - Oh she gets in, and gets in easily. But is the Lakisha express starting to lose a little steam this early?
Gina Glocksen is here to rock out. She has lucky charms, including a troll, a pickle, and nude pictures of SImon Cowell with a goat. Ok, only kidding on the last one.
The Good - She wanted to make a statement. A great rock song by Evanescence is the perfect choice of song.
The Bad - Singing does not compose of screaming. I was concerned that a lung would come flying out of her mouth.
The Verdict - Simon challenged her to get an identity. She has found one and I think that she came to rock. The performance was not her best, but she picked the perfect song for her constituents. As the lone rocker in either the guys or girls, expect Rock Chick to easily make the Top 12.
Melinda is an equal opportunity toucher and chewer. Don't get her too close to Mike Tyson.
The Good - She's Melinda. She's not going to screw up a song. She doesn't here. And she pours her heart into the song.
The Bad - Three things in common with her songs. All R and B - and all old standards. She better find a way to select songs that the majority of her voters will select, or she will be leaving early and everyone will be yelling racism.
The Verdict - Excellent job as usual from Melinda, who is my personal favorite. HOWEVER, the big test will come on the theme nights, where she has to select music that will attract a younger crowd - the crowd that casts the majority of the votes.
Overall Verdict - Can't we just have all 8 females go up against 4 males? The males aren't the worst ones ever (Idol 3 takes that honor), but unlike Idol 3, the women are Powerhouses. Unfortunately, you have 2 gazelles in a den of lionesses, and it's dinner time.
Should Leave: Haley and Antonella
Will Leave: Haley and Antonella
Should be VERY Concerned: Stephanie and Sabrina
We'll see in 24 hours as we get the results.
