Wurstminster Dog Show

I caught the tail end (I actually didn't mean that pun) of the Westminster Dog Show last night and was relieved to see that neither of the two poodles in the final running won Best in Show. I wasn't the only one apparently as you could hear the crowd actually booing when the poodles were doing their laps around the ring.

The winner was a very respectable English Springer Spaniel named Jim, which is also a very respectable name (though it's short for Diamond Jim which is just weird).

Jim beat out this odd looking fellow who reminded me of this guy:

Anyway, the point of my post is actually to recommend that you take a look at The Wurstminster Dog Show at the online Wurst Gallery in which over 100 artists display a piece they have done about a particular breed of their choice. Here are a couple of examples. An Italian Greyhound by Aaron Meshon and a French Bulldog by Apak.

I sort of had my heart set on the pug - its always the same old, same old in the final round. Oh well, some consolation, it wasn't one of the poodles.
