Holy shit, you're so right. It's mostly the voiceover. That must have been the standard guy for that era. He's the 70's cliche of the guy today who does all the "In a world that..." trailer vo's.
Plus John William's classic score is absent, which makes everything feel flat.
Is that Shatner on the voiceover? Strangely muted, but it still sounds like Kirk...
Oh Jesus, there were 70's porno trailers that had better copy than that.
That "70's cliche" voiceover is Orson Welles. Welles, Shatner, what's the difference? Oh. Right.
Now THAT'S how I wanna remember Star Wars -- not as the 4th chapter of a six film saga, not as a work in ( never-ending ) progress, not as the basis for a freakin' religion, but as a 12 year old's definition of the word AWESOME !!!
