Just a couple of things: you might try and use a raster effect on some of the newer footage to age it a little. Even in the small version, you could see that the G. Michael footage was pulled off analog NTSC and the rest wasn't. Might be able to correct that with a precompress/expand run. All of a slightly lower quality is better than shifting, IMHO.
And I would have finished in the diner :P
