Technorati released their regular State of the Blogosphere report today, which shows the number of blog-based sites (like this one) continue to grow at the astonishing rate of over 100,000 a day (or just over one blog every second). Interesting reading, and some nice words about the top blog category, into which YBNBY just scrapes:
The Very High Authority Group (500 or more blogs linking in the last 6 months)
In the final group we see what might be considered the blogging elite. This group, which represents more than 4,000 blogs, exhibits a radical shift in post frequency as well as blog age. ... Some of these are full-fledge professional enterprises that post many, many times per day and behave increasingly like our friends in the mainstream media. As has been widely reported, the impact of these bloggers on our cultures and democracies is increasingly dramatic.
I never made "Elite" level when I used to play Elite on my Atari ST, so it's nice to finally get there somehow. You can always check out our own profle, as well as seeing who has linked to us recently, by viewing our stats at Technorati.

My podcasting husband is getting depressed about blogs, thinking the fad is wearing off.
I think, on the contrary, that the cream will rise to the top - I myself constantly subscribe to blogs that I later slog through to slough away the ones that don't cut it. But I love this one, YBNBY is hilariously entertaining and worth my time.
The check's in the mail.
