In the biggest PR blunder since Hitler announced he was changing the formula of Coca Cola, the creators of LonelyGirl15 came out from behind the curtain yesterday to greet their fans.
Their fans promptly turned on them, shocked to learn that the perfect teenager in the perfect bedroom with the perfect soap opera drama going on in her life wasn't actually a real person.
Having a large portion of your fanbase hate you is never a good career move, just ask Mel Gibson.

Can someone summarize this whole thing for me? I've never watched any of the videos and don't really care to. Why were people so caught up in it? It seems some people are questioning the confession? Is this denial or is there more to this story?
Synopsis:
Girl posts ongoing series of videos to youtube, puportedly shot from her bedroom. Mostly just inane ramblings, but with oblique references to a strange religion and Aleister Crowley. Thousands believe it to be real, despite the fact that it's beautifully lit and performed by beautfiul people, and then feel raped when they suspect they've succumbed to insidious marketing campaign. A handful of viral experts, including our own Razen & Muggler go insane trying to figure out which one of them it is who is behind it, and is lying to the rest. Filmmaker Brian Flemming claims it has nothing to do with his upcoming movie "Danielle" (go look it up in IMDB), but I suspect he's the biggest liar of them all.
Anything else?
