Via BoingBoing this morning, comes news of Clitoraid, a site set up by UFO Cult leader Rael (yeh, the clone guy) to help restore clitorises (clitorii? I'm not sure what the plural is) to those who have suffered genital mutilation. Is that operation even possible? And if so, shouldn't there be a "Transgenderaid" too?
Not to belittle the tragic fact that this stuff is still going on in the world in the name of tradition, but am I the only one who thinks calling the case study section "A Touching Testimony" may have been a mistake?

Besides the fact that you can't believe anything from this guy, any money and manpower would be better spent changing tradition and stopping future mutilations.
From the title I thought it was going to be a new sports drink.
I think if you have any negative comments about what the Raelians are trying to do here ask yourself "What am I doing to help change any injustice on the planet"? This is a serious problem and it is not just happening in Africa, it is happening in many countries around the world. And for the disbelievers who think it is a scam and it cannot be done, a very famous French surgeon urologist named Doctor Pierre Foldes, who is not a Raelian, has been repairing women who have had this done to them for many years now. Most of the negative comments I have read about this comes from men who think that there are other more "worthy" causes that a Raelian or anyone for that matter can get involved with. Well I want to ask you, if there was a custom in your country that cut off your penis when you were five or six years old would you want someone anyone come to your aid and repair it? We are not only taking about a human beings pleasure but their fundamental right and dignity here. Yes, the best way would be to stop this barbaric tradition from happening, but what about the 150 million women and more who have lost their clitoris and dignity? Do you just disregard them like yesterdays garbage. We are talking about human life here. Is yours more valuable then theirs? Before you make any comment, do some research about this custom and read the pages and pages of horror stories and I think you may feel differently about any organization who is positively trying to do something to help.
Thanks Donna Well Said,
