Grin and Bare It

Boobiethon.png
The Fifth Annual Blogger Boobie-Thon will launch October first and is now accepting early photo submissions. This yearly event features bloggers showing their (covered and uncovered) breasts in order to raise money for charity during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Only covered boobies (hands, props, food items, bras, etc.) will be placed on the main photos page. There will be a separate, passworded "pay-per-boobie" page for bare-breasted photos, which will be available to donors of $50.00 or more. The Boobie-Thon will run through October 7th.

Product Misplacement

house_dell.JPEG

During this season’s second episode of House, Dr. House bit the hand that furnishes his promotional consideration.

“Why don’t I have a high-def in my office? I’m a department head. Tissue characterization is impossible when the pixels are the size of Legos.”

As you can see in the picture above, the pixels he’s complaining about clearly belong to Dell, a company outed as a paid sponsor in the credits.

I spent countless hours on the phone with Dell tech support this summer. And a certified Dell technician spent about 9 hours in my kitchen, trying in vain to bring my under-warranty laptop back to life, twice returning with defective (or "the wrong") parts. I finally had to mail it to Texas.

Let this be a lesson to all the corporations out there. I don't forget.

See his pug-nosed face

Thanks to YouTube, David Bowie and Ricky Gervais for suddenly making my Monday morning a lot more chuckle-filled. Roll on season two.

For the couples in the audience...

rememberring.jpg cone01_l.jpg

For the guys...having trouble remembering those special dates? You know, anniversaries? birthdays? baby changing day? Don't let the Alzheimer's get you down, fellas. Now there's the remember ring. A handy little item that burns your ring finger on whatever day you set it for. (Please note, remember ring should be set for an hour when wearer is awake, as company takes no responsibility for burns, mutilations, or mattress fires that may occur as a result of product use)

And for the gals...this is the cone. I think you'll like the cone. It's in the conezone.

Nudge Nudge Wink Wink

Send someone a “Nudger” to let them know how you feel about their lazines, bad habits, or just to give them a laugh. Here’s an example I threw together. With more internet goodness here. (via Ursi’s blog)

Masters of American Comics

peanuts.jpg

I think this one may be of interest to a few people here.

The Jewish Museum in Manhattan, and Newark Museum in Jersey, are putting on a two-part exhibition of 20th and 21st century comic book artists. I'm lost after Charles Schultz and R. Crumb, but I'll bet a couple writers here know every cartoonist listed. Could be worth a trip (or two).

Breakfast Links

jackass2.jpg

- We kinda missed Rosh Hashana here at YesBut, so for all our Jewish brethren...a little Hebrew Crunk.
- Remember Lisa Sliwa? Guardian Angel, married to Curtis, Lisa? She's a reporter now, and this is funny.
- After Pete Rose's autographed apology on a bunch of baseballs, maybe a few other athletes will join in.
- If you've never seen a reporter get cuddly with a bunch of horny pandas, you may have to watch this.
- And when I saw the posters for Jackass 2, I thought...they're not really doing that rocket bit, are they?

A-maze-ing

"Pan's Labyrinth" ***1/2 (out of four): Beautiful but relentlessly grim fairytale about a young girl who finds refuge in a world of mythical creatures at the end of the Spanish Civil War.

Pans1Sht_RGB.jpg

As he proved in his wonderfully hypnotic ghost story, 2001’s “The Devil’s Backbone”, there are two topics that make Guillermo del Toro shine: the supernatural and the Spanish Civil War. After a foray into mainstream filmmaking during which he turned his gothic sensibilities on Hollywood (“Blade II”, “Hellboy”), the director again masterfully combines these seemingly disparate elements in the beautiful but relentlessly bleak fairytale “Pan’s Labyrinth”.

404 Error

Whoops! We're not sure if it was your fault or ours (probably yours, we're good that way) but you've encountered a FATAL ERROR!!! Or at least, a pretty grumpy one.

Specifically the Latvians who run our server are telling us in a weird accent "Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 5]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtfeed' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580), Comrade!". Ain't life a bitch.

If you want to vent, email our slacker of a webmaster. Otherwise, we'd suggest going back, using search, or clicking around aimlessly on this page like a moron.

Have fun.
