Thanks for listening

200512112336
Sept 12 2006: Apple announce the acquisition and introduction of Coverflow into iTunes 7, dramatically enhancing the browsing experience. - (Steve Jobs)

December 11 2005: "If Apple knows what's good for them, they should snap (Coverflow) up and include it in the next version of FrontRow". (Scaramouch)

I'm just saying, that's all.

Top Five on Tuesday

SaltPepper.jpgPuzzleMirror.jpgMonkeyChain.jpg
balloonlamp.jpgWarBowl.jpg
Seems like more than a few designers get their inspiration from toys.

5) Seems like a natural. Blocks have the letters already on them and everything.
4) If one of the pieces falls out of this mirror, is it still seven years of bad luck?
3) It's a necklace more fun than a...necklace without a monkey attached to it.
2) That's a real balloon acting like a light in this balloon lamp. Probably fun at parties.
1) And the only bad thing about the war bowl is that I'm not the guy who thought of it.

Cummingtonite?

Cummingtonite.png
Scientists with a sense of humor have coined some deliciously silly names for molecules, chemicals, and minerals. Would you believe Curious Chloride and Moronic Acid? How about Arsole and Cummingtonite? And then there’s the names they give human genes, like Sonic Hedgehog, Tigger, Mad, and Max!

Tigger is a transposable element in the human genome, i.e. it can jump to another location in the genome. Tigger, in A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh, was a bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy character.

You’ll find more strange and amusing scientific stuff today at Miss Cellania.

The Path to Mickey

MickeyOswald.jpg

The following movie is a dramatization drawn from a variety of sources including actual historical photos and other published materials. The movie is not a documentary. For dramatic and narrative purposes, the movie contains fictionalized scenes, composite and representative characters and dialogue. But we know you don't like to read, so you're bound to believe it's all true...how cool is that.

Breakfast Links

stagesofgrief.jpg

- For people who don't think fear is the President's favorite tactic, this Matt Lauer interview is for you.
- You've always wanted to join the Mile High Club, but those bathrooms can be so damn small. Now there's hope.
- Gilbert Gottfried and the post-9/11 routine that brought a little laughter back to the city...just brilliant.
- Speaking of brilliant performances, what do you think happens when a crowd tries to boo Billy Burr off stage?
- And the Daily Show's back, and they're quick to point out Osama's total lack of respect for Jewish holidays.

404 Error

Whoops! We're not sure if it was your fault or ours (probably yours, we're good that way) but you've encountered a FATAL ERROR!!! Or at least, a pretty grumpy one.

Specifically the Latvians who run our server are telling us in a weird accent "Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 5]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtfeed' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580), Comrade!". Ain't life a bitch.

If you want to vent, email our slacker of a webmaster. Otherwise, we'd suggest going back, using search, or clicking around aimlessly on this page like a moron.

Have fun.
