Really...guys, this is just...I don't know what to say. I knew you were planning something...but THIS. I mean, I can't thank you enough. I thought, maybe I'd get Is Rumsfeld Senile? Or, Is Cheney one of the four horsemen of the Apocolypse? But this. All I can say is, first round in 2008 is on me (if the country's still in one piece).
(By the way...well played, MSNBC. You knew if you put up a graphic like that, I wouldn't be able to resist posting the video goodness for all to see. Round one to you, Scarborough. But we'll meet again.)

I just think it's funny that the whole "Republicans are Stupid!" meme hasn't changed at all in 150 years. I think Hoover is the only Republican president whose detractors haven't fallen to the "He's a dummy!" line of thinking. Even Lincoln was known as "The Original Gorilla" to his opponents.
Two points...1) The question was posed by former REPUBLICAN congressman Joe Scarborough. And 2) after watching all the Bush clips, does the Emancipation Proclamation really come to mind?
1) Does the word "FORMER" mean anything to you?
2) I never said that Bush was a dynamic speaker on par with John F. Kennedy or FDR, so I'm not sure what your point is. He's no Lincoln? Well, who is? Kerry?
To assume that he is an idiot based on the fact that you disagree with his politics is a pretty thin thread to hang an argument on, don't you think?
My point was that the opposition to Republicans have fallen back on the tired old "He's a big dumb doodle-head!" line time and again and it does get a little pathetic.
For the record, I've been a Democrat for 40 years and an organic farmer since before it was cool. I'm just on Quixotic quest to prevent my party from becoming a latter-day Whig party and trying to move people away from "Bush is Devil! And Stupid!" line of thinking and more towards actually coming up with viable solutions for the nation's problems as the path back to politcal power.
Dear cool farmer,
We probably shouldn't get into it, because I not only think Bush is evil, but I think he stole the Presidency, brought the country into a false war costing trillions of dollars, thousands of lives and in the process created a breeding ground for terrorists in Iraq, turned back the clock by decades on environmental policy so that energy companies could increase profits, has given the US it's worst reputation in history, has robbed THOUSANDS of American citizens of any hope they had by cutting funding for stem cell research, supported a laughable same sex marriage amendment, and broken the law by instituting illegal wiretaps without FISA court authorization.
So I agree. He's not an idiot. That would release him from responsibility. He's much worse than an idiot. So, we're actually on the same page.
Although, just for the record regarding his IQ...
1) He nominated Harriot Miers to the Supreme Court
2) He thinks Intelligent Design should be taught in schools
3) He was fully briefed on Hurrican Katrina before it happened, and did not ask one question during the briefing.
4) He's created something called the 100 degree club at his Crawford ranch, urging staffers to attempt 3 mile runs in 100 degree heat.
5) He traded Sammy Sosa for Harold Baines
Last points...I'm actually registered as an independent voter, as I'm conservative on some points, and liberal on others. I don't really see the point in blindly supporting one party...always seemed fairly simple-minded to me. Tell me, if McCain had run against Kerry, who would you have voted for. I would've been McCain all the way. Also, what does knowing what "former" means have to do with anything. He's still Republican isn't he. And your point was targeted at Democrats. And finally, thinking Bush is the Devil, and coming up with viable solutions are not necessarily at odds with one another. Passion is good. A liitle more, and we might have higher than a 50% voting percentage.
Thanks for the discussion.

PS: Hoover was a pussy.
Here's a couple reasons why democrats aren't labeled as stupid:
1. conservative lines of thought have a "cognitive advantage," i.e. it takes fewer cognitive resources to maintain attitudes that are considered conservative
2. a negative correlation has been found between general intelligence and political conservatism
Go, Jellio!
