And with the stroke of a pen, while literally millions of Americans work to find cures for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, spinal cord injuries and so on, the President stops any further Federal funding.
He announced the veto while surrounded by "snowflake families" who adopted children born through embryo donation, to drive home the point that use of embryonic stem cells effectively takes the lives of children yet to be born. Of course what he doesn't mention is that thousands of embyros are already being destroyed every year in fertility clinics. Last week, he even had his henchman announce this isn't a big deal because adult stem cell are more useful, anyway. That's now been shown to be a big, fat lie. So what else is new.
Sen. Orrin Hatch said the veto sets back embryonic stem cell research another year or so. So this basically means the medical advances that will undoubtably occur due to stem cell research will be pushed back at least a year, and the thousands of people that would have benefitted from those advances in that time are now out of luck.
Just another day on the ranch.

To quote a great line from Hannah and Her Sisters:
"If Jesus Christ came back to Earth and saw what had been done in his name he wouldn't stop throwing up."
You go down the line in history where science and religion conflict and science has won the battle every single time. When will these people learn?
