Not that this will mean much to our primarily US readership, but the BBC has cancelled Top of the Pops after a 42 year run. For many years it was British TV's only weekly music show, having debuted in 1964 (the year I was born), and was such a huge part of my youth that I'm kind of choked up at its passing. Even now, I download bittorrents of every episode, and while nothing can match the prepubescent rumblings I experienced at the sight of Pans People (pictured), there were still some excellent live performances every week, from a bunch of bands that I'll probably be unlikely to hear again on this side of the pond.
