Schwing!

The description calls this a “Useless desktop manager/motion sensor hack for MacBook Pro”. I don't know about “useless”, because it looks both useful and pretty cool to me. As someone says in the comments on YouTube, imagine using this thing to switch between OSX and Windows.

There can be only one

Normal Katharine Mcphee (21)
And while we're on the subject of predictions, the very clever DialIdol (which has been amazingly accurate the last few weeks) predicts the spastic grey haired one as the new American Idol.

Which I'm pretty happy about, because although Katharine McPhee has more talent, second place (and relative obscurity) may persuade her into the pages of Playboy Esquire all the quicker. (hey, it worked with Tiffany)

This is how the world was created

Alchanimals
A very cool design project to create a modern Alchemical notebook.

What I have to tell concerning the operation of the Sun is complete.

Last Lost of the Season

Lost Hurley
Only a few hours until the season finale of Lost, and I sure hope it's more spectacular than last year's “It's....a hole in the ground” revelation. We've been promised that we'll find out why the plane crashed and what happens when you stop pushing the button.

So, seeing as I have nothing to lose by being wrong (and it's happened before, unless Vito rises from the grave next week to zombie-rape Finn) here's my prediction.

The button is a “Dead Man's Switch” installed to protect the island's secrets, should the Hanso scientists ever become incapacitated. If the button isn't pressed every 108 minutes, the island's defense system is armed. That system involves big ass electromagnets that, once armed, “disable” planes that happen to fly too close. So Oceanic 815 crashed because Desmond overslept. We'll find this out tonight, because Desmond will return on the yacht. But this revelation will only happen in the last few minutes when they realize there's no-one in the hatch to press the button. The magnets will arm, another plane will crash, and next season, we'll have a whole new batch of survivors.

And possibly Vito & Finn will be on the plane, heading on a love trip to Fiji. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to the Lost Action Figures and the Lost Video Game.

Fractalific!

Zoomforever
Remember photomosaics? They were quite the thing a few years ago. Now someone's figured out how to combine them with flash to make one that's infinitely zoomable. My kids loved this when I showed it to them.

You know, if someone were to do this with hundreds of porn images, people would pay good money for it. But then, adding porn to ANYTHING is always a surefire bet, I guess. (via BoingBoing)
