Does anyone here remember the Alien Autopsy footage that surfaced about ten years ago? It was eventually screened in a Fox special with Jonathan Frakes from ST:TNG hosting. But the story behind it was quite fascinating - a British music video producer named Ray Santilli had found the movie, provided to him by an ex-Army cameraman, and he claimed it was the real thing.
While it always seemed too good to be true in a very National Enquirer kind of wayway, I remember there was a lot of serious debate about the possibility of it being real. Santilli was always very evasive about the footage, and disappeared from the scene awhile ago.
Fast forward ten years, here's the web site for a new comedy movie, starring Bill Pullman & Harry Dean Stanton, entitled Alien Autopsy, and the synopsis describes it as the true story of how Ray Santilli fooled the world with fake autopsy footage.
And the executive producer of the movie? Ray Santilli.
Which begs the question - was the whole setup back in 1995 the beginning of the world's longest movie teaser campaign?
