I have to admit, the conversation the kittysicle generated in the comments section is really interesting. If the cat wasn't dead already, it's obviously a REALLY sick act. But if the cat was already gone (or if it's fake), and someone did this as an art piece, it really is interesting to see where people put their priorities, or how they act diffently when confornted with something that's normally kept far from them. If many of the "he should be killed" commenters were given a detailed look at how their meals are prepared, or clothing is made, they may have a very different opinion.
I'm not sure the "do you eat meat"? argument is as persuasive as the "did you protest as much over Damian Hurst's work?" one.
If Bird Flu jumps to cats, I think you might see a different sympathy start to emerge across the country.
