According to his CNN obit, Al "Grandpa Munster" Lewis died yesterday at the age of 83. According to IMDb, he was 95. But according to my mental file of celebrity updates, Grandpa's been dead for about 13 years.
This isn't exactly a Retrobituary, which is defined as the rememberance of a barely-acknowledged celebrity death. There's nothing retro about dying yesterday, and it's all over the news. Guess I'm just low on material.
Past Retrobituaries: Mr. Belvedere, Becky's Boyfriend from Roseanne, The Painter from Murphy Brown, Hotsy Totsy from Welcome Back Kotter, Captain Frank Murphy from Sealab 2021, Morty Seinfeld, and the special Fun Facts Edition.

I had even forgotten that Al Lewis was around until Howard Stern brought him (and his career( back to life via his show back in the early 90's. His infamous "Fuck the FCC!" rant is legendary and thanks to a few pals who constantly trade off mp3's of EVERYTHING, I've got a copy now.
Ah, Al, you were the man. You're cantankery is the stuff of legends, and I only hope I can be as half as angry as you were at your age when I shuffle off the mortal coil to the great unknown.
I'll pour a bit of Milk of Magnesia on the ground for you tonight, 'cause I'll be damned if I waste the whiskey - it's 50 years old, for Kee-reist's sake!
p.s. - I think he'd understand.
I feel *almost* as sad as I felt when Fred Gwynne passed...
*sniffffff*
