"When a Stranger Calls" * (out of four): While it's somewhat comforting to know that someone is still making horror movies like they did in the late 70s, does it have to be exactly like they did in the late 70s?

On the list of films that need to be remade, the moderate 1979 shocker “When a Stranger Calls” has to be pretty low. The original, starring Carol Kane, held a few minor thrills, the pinnacle being the revelation of where the call was coming from. All these fucking remakes remind me of one thing, and I'm not too sure why - "1984."

We are re-writing history via Hollywood.

The more we (that is to say the greedy fucks in Hollywood) make shit out of the past, the more we will reject the motion that anything from the past was any good in the first place.

Once our good memories are dropped into the Memory Hole (please see your book for reference), we will become the very zombies of Consumer-ica, thus ensuring our country will become a desolate wasteland of ignorant children who will crave nothing but a Bel Grande Taco (whatever the fuck that is, since I've never been in a Taco Bell - I like real food) and Tivo'd Paris Hilton commercials, and nothing more.

Ick. I'm glad I'm rich - I've made sure the trap door to my house leads to my survivor hole, which has basic foods, books and Mozart in it.

Until the government finds it and declares it an untruth for me to own books, since they are useless, and only computers with permanent screensavers of Bush are allowed.

I thank you.

p.s. - The Sensimille with the red threads in it? niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.
