Everyday is Webcomics Day

2006 is going to be the year of the Webcomic so I thought I might start a new feature here where I highlight some of the more enjoyable webcomics that I come across. If there is any interest in this I will keep it going every week or so.

I want to start with a funny and very heartfelt comic that I found via the great comics blog The Beat this week. It's a semi-autobiographical story called Freddie and Me written and drawn by Mike Dawson about growing up as the biggest fan of Queen and dealing with the devestating death of his idol Freddie Mercury.

Dawson's childhood resonates with me, having been a classic rock devotee in high school and it seems we grew up surrounded by the same radio stations as on the first page he hilariously references 102.7FM as well as Mr. Leonard of Z100 fame. I think anyone who has had a favorite band that they truly adored will see themselves in this charming story.

Read excerpts at Mike's website, new pages are added every Thursday.
