That Was The Year That Was

200512311808

A quick thanks to everyone who visited YBNBY in the last year - hopefully you'll continue to return in 2006. I don't want to get all self indulgent and do a long in-depth analysis of all our highs and lows over the year, but allow me one quick stat...

When we launched YBNBY back in January 2005, we had no real idea if we'd end the year with an audience or not. We ended up getting a whole lot more readers than I think we could have predicted. Above is a graph that charts our page views over the year.

Probably the funniest thing about this is my comment made in June. That was the month we ran our interview with KC Armstrong, and got mentioned in the NY Post, and it more than doubled our traffic from the previous month. I turned to Jellio at the time and said “You realize of course, that we'll never see traffic as high as this again”, and he nodded knowingly.

That's us - the wise old men and women of YBNBY. Happy New Year everyone.

I'm curious: what caused the REALLY big spike?

A quarter million hits a month? Congratulations! BTW, that was exactly when I started coming here.

Doug - the big spike in November was quite a few linkages, but most notably we got on the front page of fark.com

Miss Cellania - look again, you left off a zero, it's 2.5 million page views this month.

It's all in the scale, ain't it?

You should be forced to use a semilog plot so the rest of us don't get traffic envy ;o)

Happy New Year, folks!
