Carnivale Reincarnated

dvd-carnivale-s1.jpg

Fans of the show Carnivale (I've actually never seen it but hear it was pretty good) lamented when the HBO show was cancelled that a number of plot threads were left hanging. Talks about a two hour movie to complete the story have fallen through but rumor has it there is discussion of reviving the series in comic book form in order to bring proper resolution to the series.

A very smart idea, especially for a show that is rooted in the type of supernatural themes that comics excel at. Comics and graphic novels are turning into a great resource for projects that find themselves shortchanged in Hollywood or on television. The latest example of this is Darren Aronofksy's hardcover graphic novel of his upcoming film The Fountain which acts like the director's cut of the movie, containing more of the story which could never be filmed for budgetary reasons.

Hopefully DC's Vertigo line which published The Fountain will pick up Carnivale as well.
