I spend so much time searching for stupid video clips, crazy flash movies and time wasting games to post here, it's sometimes easy to forget just how amazing the power to communicate instantly over the web is.
There's a thread over on Metafilter today that really brings this home. A poster asks information on finding an old Viennese phonebook from 1938, in the hope of uncovering the name of the street where his late grandfather lived. Within hours, not only had the address been tracked down, but 15 pages of official records relating to his family from the Holocaust Museum. Read through the entire thread, it's an incredible story
It's sometimes easy to forget how lucky we are to have our lives enriched by this thing we waste our days away on.
Ok, my “moment” is over - we can now return to the stupid crap.
