The almiqui, or "Atopogale cubana" is as it's scientific name implies, native to Cuba. These insectivores were thought extinct until one individual was recognized and captured by a Cuban farmer in 2003. (it was nicknamed "Alejandrito" and released two days later, presumably with a vicious hangover, spotty memory, and a sore rump)
Two interesting features of the almiqui:
-They secrete venemous saliva from grooves on the lower incisors (primarily to subdue their prey of worms and insects)
-The mammary glands of the females are located on the buttocks.
And if you're in the market for merchandise commemorating this snouty Solenodon, there's still time to bid on this
and just a bonus: anyone have a translation?

Oh, man. Where are you finding these? That critter is UGLY! Keep 'em coming, I love it.
I keep thinking that I'm going to run out of ground-dwelling rodent-like creatures, but they keep coming up. I'm beginning to wonder if there's an innate human repulsion to such things, or if you are a nocturnal dirt-dweller, looks just aren't as important.
Yes, ugly, but i like this animal. It looks like a creature of the ice age or prehistory.
The Latino/Hispanic part of your joke was totally bougie, weak and in bad taste.
it would be, if you grossly misinterpreted it.
