If you're like me -- married and a big TV guy -- tonight's a busy one. Throw in "Giants Fan," and I'm struggling to plan my evening viewing.
Here's what I'm looking at:
8:00 - 9:00: The West Wing, 7th Season Premier. Santos/McGarry (Jimmy Smits/John Spencer) v. Vinnick/Sullivan (Alan Alda/Brett Cullen). The show has fallen since Aaron Sorkin stopped writing every episode, but they've earned my viewership for the life of the series. In real life, I'd say print up the Vinnick '05 t-shirts. But when every single known character is a Democrat, it's hard to believe they'll recast all those roles.
9:00 - 10:01: Desperate Housewives, 2nd Season Premier. Yes, I watch Desperate Housewives. But this week, the desperate programmers at ABC have shrewdly made this episode 61 minutes. That means my TiVo wasn't going to tape my 10 PM choice, Curb Your Enthusiasm. You can't trick me into watching Grey's Anatomy. Luckily, I've drawn up this viewing plan in advance.
10:00 - 10:30: Curb Your Enthusiasm, 5th Season Premier. Already a member of my Mount Rushmore of sitcoms, with Cheers, Seinfeld, The Office and Arrested Development. There's been one more great sitcom than great president.
10:30 - 11:00: Extras, Series Premier. How many weeks before "Rome" gets cancelled and these two shows move to 9 PM?
Throw in the Giants-Chargers game on ESPN and it's overwhelming.
