WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) — The mother of a Marine killed in Iraq urged mourners Wednesday not to let their anger and sadness turn them against the U.S. fight in Iraq.
“Honor me in this way,” Kathy Dyer said during a memorial service for Lance Cpl. Christopher J. Dyer, 19, of the Cincinnati suburb of Evendale.
At the funeral at Tri-County Baptist Church, Kathy Dyer delivered what she believed would have been her son’s own message: “It has been with the greatest pride I have served ... fighting to preserve freedom.”
She said he would want mourners to continue supporting the troops in the war against terrorism.
Will, are you comparing this woman, who lost her son and has every right to express her opinion in favor of the war effort, to Fred Barnes, a talking head who has no personal stake in the war and makes sensationalist comments like calling grieving mothers crackpots just for ratings. Iloverobots called me both a douchebag and an asshole because I don't think Bush should meet *again* with Cindy Sheehan now that the media has made her into a star protester. My next comment, a new clip from someone else who does not think Bush should meet with Sheehan, was met with your condescending retort. I'll admit that i should not have used your word ("retarded") and should have asked if Mrs. Dyer, mother of a killed Marine, is an asshole and a douchebag. I'll try to be clearer next time Jells.
