The naked truth about Little Britain

550X185 Lb Main Section4

For those of you with BBC America, I suggest you set your TiVo (or - *shudder* - VCR) for Wednesday night at 9pm ET, for the US premier of Season Two of Little Britain. This is, without doubt, the funniest comedy show to come out of Blighty since The Office and I can't recommend it enough.

However, on the teaser promos that are running on TV at the moment, I see that the “post-Janet” prudes have been at work, censoring the full-frontal nudity of the GORGEOUS Bubbles DeVere. Luckily for YBNBY readers, I do have the full uncut version here to take a screengrab, to show you exactly what you're all missing - after the jump.

Little Britain, BBC America, Wednesday 17th at 9pm. GORGEOUS!

Hi

I hear TV fat-cats of America are considering remaking 'Little Britain'...

What is the piont??? Like the remake of 'the Office'?

It never works, and I don't see the why it has to be done... Maybe it's to line the greasy pockets of fore-mentioned TV fat-cats by using tried and tested, very good comedy because they cann't come up with an original idea/concept or cann't be arsed to put money into new US writing talent?

or

Does English comedy have to be 'translated' to american comedy?!?! What is that all about? - Is Britih comedy a little to sophisicated for the people of the US; maybe there's too much irony(!) Maybe it has to be diluted, maybe US citizens cann't relate to British characters... I don't know.

Surely an American version would miss the whole point of 'Little Britain'; ie a British comedy about eccentrics made by two very talented British eccentrics.

I have to agree, Little Britain would never translate. England has always celebrated eccentrics as individuals, America just diagnoses them as having a disorder and sends them into therapy.

Oh yeah, one other thing.

I, like a lot of other Brits, love Sienfeld. Yet we do not feel the need to remake that; we know it just wouldn't work!

Like Sex in the City, etc. We air those programmes on UK terestrial TV as they are; no remakes. That would be wrong... just wrong!

I had posted a comment with links to lists of American shows remade for the Brit audience, but I think the YBNBY spam police mistook it for....spam.

Google will show you the way. The list is indeed shorter than the UK to US list, but its there.

You are absolutely right, of course. We as a nation are quite thick. Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The Daily Show, Arrested Development...no idea where they happened to have been made.

I was unaware of mentioned US to UK convertions. I stand corrected. Will check the list out in due course.

PS
Your country is quite large - more like a continent than a country. You have a wide-range of people living with-in, so there are bound to be a few chicken-heads. Europe has got its fair share of morons too (the french have no taste in humour what-so-ever I am lead to believe, one has to stand to take a shit in some public toilets, they have ethnic intergration problems, and their women have hairy armpits...)
