Family Circus

bozo.jpg

I'm always impressed by families who find fame in multiple generations. Not when they're famous for the same thing, like former NFL Quarterback Archie Manning and current NFL Quarterbacks Peyton & Eli. And not when the offspring is only famous because of the parent, like Ron Reagan or Nicole Ritchie.

Here's the kind of lush family tree I'm talking about: Anaheim Angels draft pick Trevor Bell is the grandson of Bob Bell, better known to generations of Midwesterners (and anyone else who had WGN growing up) as Bozo The Clown.

I was hoping to end this with three or four other examples to better illustrate this phenomenon, but I'm drawing a blank. Help me out here...

Commodore 64 Porn

a_cbm_movie_02.gif

Let's bring the porn about 5-10 years closer to the modern age now. This site has a collection of vintage Commodore 64 porn. Of course you need to download an emulator to view them but there are plenty of thumbnails for your viewing pleasure.

Girls of 64

If you dig that but find that the 8-bit color is too close to the real thing for you, you might want to try ASCII porn.

Both are NSFW.

Charlie's Nipple

Feature.1

It's 70s porn day here at YBNBY - first we reveled in the heyday of Times Square, then we reminisced over Debbie Does Dallas - now, here's a link to a fascinating story behind that famous Farrah Fawcett poster. (via BoingBoing)

Where are they now: Debbie Does Dallas

Ddd01

After writing my posts about the casts of Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, I thought for a while of other movies that prove influential during my formative years, and realized that to complete the quartet, I also needed to cover Debbie Does Dallas. Aside from Deep Throat, DDD is possibly the most successful adult movie ever made, and hails from the “golden age” when an adult film director still regarded a “plot” as a necessity rather than baggage.

Debbiedd
The movie tells the story of young Debbie Benton, who's dreams of becoming a professional cheerleader in Texas are jeopardized by a precarious financial situation, until she and her friends - in a direct predecessor of The Apprentice - form a working conglomerate to raise capital from a variety of business ventures. Much hilarity ensues, in a heartwarming tale of youth, the struggle to achieve your dreams, and the benefits of living in a capitalist society.

And so come with us now, as YesButNoButYes answers the all important question about the stellar cast of Debbie Does Dallas - “Where are they now?” (Viewer discretion advised)

What's Worse?

vargas.jpg

What's worse, getting shot in the head, or having every news outlet in the country refer to you as "husband of Elizabeth Vargas"?

Marc Cohn won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1992 and had a radio hit with "Walking in Memphis." But had he married his high-school sweetheart or some whorish groupie, we'd never know he was shot in the head yesterday. Looks like he'll survive.

Bring Back The Strippers

Link.Peep.Show

For those who remember the seedier side of Times Square and 42nd Street, and rue the day when Mayor Guiliani took it upon himself to save New York from itself, take heart. Now there's a politician who seems to be embarking on a platform that will return the city to it's more colorful roots. Democrat Victor Bernace is planning a “Havana Night” fundraiser next month at a Manhattan nightclub, complete with bikini-clad dancers and men wearing nothing but briefs. He's charging twenty dollars per person for the event, which he claims, will be “a very erotic show”.

I believe payment will be expected in $1 increments, stuffed gently down the front of Mr Bernace's pants.

I've seen those two before...

Guesswho

Well, well, well, Scaramouch featuring a shot of a couple of pouting young ladies. While this may not be astounding news, what might surprise you is who the ladies in question happen to be, so look again. Any idea?

Retro-bituary: Bob McAllister from Wonderama

wondyweb.jpg

Apologies to Aquaman for stepping on the Retrobituary turf, but I think I have an interesting one here.

Don't know why, but for some reason I recently found myself thinking about Wonderama, the kid's show from the 70's. I used to watch it religiously, every Sunday morning on WNEW, channel 5 in New York. Bob McAllister was the host, and my favorite part of the show was watching kids compete for these great prize packages which were basically huge piles of toys. It was like winning the lottery for an 8 year old. You can read about the show here.

It seems Bob passed away July 21, 1998, of lung cancer. (how's that for a coincidence) Apparently, he was an occasional smoker, who quit long before he died, but not soon enough. Rest in peace, Bob. You made thousands of kids really happy every week.

And remember...Kids are people too....wackadoo, wackadoo, wackadoo.

I'm definitely quitting next week...might need a little help, though.

5) Simple, elegant designs are usually the best...no smoking ashtray.
4) No smoking bear...the cuddly way to quit.
3) I like a good, obnoxious coughing ashtray every once in a while.
2) Let's get right to the point, shall we? Smoker's playing cards.
1) Yoshitomo Nara's take on the situation...Too Young To Die ashtray.
