If you use AOL Instant Messenger, here's a cool little site that allows you to pit your own popularity against any other screenname in a six-degrees of separation style showdown. I could be wrong, but I think it's AOL-owned, and if so, it's a great way to create buzz around a piece of software most of us take for granted already.
