.. the most heartwarming memory I have is of the home movies I used to shoot with my friend Tim. Spaghetti westerns, Superman parodies, music documentaries, pop videos -we covered it all. Armed with a trusty Elmo Super 8 camera, I went on to study filmmaking at college, and work on music video shoots for - amongst others - Depeche Mode, Chumbawamba & Ice -T. And all because of those Super 8 movies...

So now, pause with me a second as Kodak issue a press release discontinuing Kodakchrome Super 8 cartridges (disguised as a “celebration of 40 years of Super 8”). It's the end of an era for those nice bright colors. (via Gizmodo)
