Paula Abdul on Saturday Night Live

Paula_Abdul.jpg

American Idol's Paula Abdul took a page out of Hugh Grant's playbook, making her first post-Primetime Live appearance on late night TV a few minutes ago.

As Simon would say, "Absolutely dreadful."

Hugh Grant won over the world with his mea culpa. (At least I think he did; I was 15.) Not sure what the point of Paula's appearance was. It seemed like the writers promised to give her a totally sarcastic part that made light of the situation, but couldn't find a way to make it funny. Paula stammered through the punchline, which was meant as a critique of Amy Poehler, who was playing Paula:

Be a lot more sexier so contestants will be willing to sleep with you and be willing to admit that we're Live from New York it's Saturday Night!

Since there was no national consensus to impeach Paula, I don't know what the purpose of this stunt was. Way to keep the story alive.

Like Sarah Silverman once said about J-Love Hewitt, Paula is a true triple threat. Singer, dancer and terrible actress.
