My wife and I bought a house last fall. At the time, our neighbors all seemed very nice. But outside of a few frozen waves while shoveling, we've had little contact. Now it's spring, and we're all emerging from our shelters. Lots of occasions to say hello and chat. Only I don't know anybody's name.
In the absence of nametags or the balls to admit I'm clueless, there's this -- reversephonedirectory.com. For years I've used their Reverse Phone Lookup to identify curious callers, but just found this little tool. Enter a street address and learn who lives there. Sometimes, you only get the last name and first initial. In that case, you just have to do a little more Googling before finding out who "Chief," "Hoss," "Bree Van De Kamp" and "Mrs. Solis" really are.
