Blogebrity is supposedly the new online magazine that celebrates celebrity bloggers and the world of blogging - a world, which possibly 98% of the people in this country know little about, and care even less. But it gained a lot of “pixel-inches” even before the Showdown began on the rumor of it's launch. What's more, there are suggestions on their site that a print version will follow.
How smart. You can understand the reasoning of the team behind this entry - I can almost hear the brainstorm they must have had :
“So, we need to come up with an idea that all the blogs will talk about...hmmmm. Many of the bloggerati completely fulfill the Warhol nightmare of the the masses craving their 15 minutes of fame. They truly are legends in their own mind - hell, Chelsea Peretti claims to have her own fan club. So if we suggest they are now important enough to warrant a People style magazine, they''ll be all over this like flies on rotting meat.
Hey, and while we're at it, let's create a class distinction - a-list bloggers, and b-list bloggers, so they'll start fighting amongst themselves about who belongs on what list, and grace us with long articles in an attempt to move up the league table”
There's a debate raging about whether Blogebrity is a hoax or a real magazine launch. I'd suggest it's not a hoax, but rather a public experiment in vanity and perception. It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out in the next few days (And really interesting to see how long it takes the Blogebrity team to post a denial in our comments section - hopefully they will step up and play their part in the ongoing psychodrama)

Well, they must have noticed us, becasuse now I'm listed as a B-List blogger, unless the site automatically lists anyone as a B-Lister who mentions it and pings the site. Maybe the more mentions you make and the more pings you send it, the higher you go. Man, they're devious.
