It's been just a month since we moved to the new server, and everything seems to be working just dandy. Along with a few upgrades that we hope have been visible, the new hosting provider also ramped out our ability to track stats.
So I thought it might be interesting to start a monthly tradition of sharing a few highlights, as well as tell you who the mystery picture is that adorns this post (Here's a clue.... she gained a new found insight into alternate religions this month, probably including a intense vision of her own personal Hell....)
VISITORS
The number of visitors to the site continues to rise in a nice curve as we slowly gain new readers. We have fans all over the world. Most of our traffic is naturally from the US and UK, but France, Germany, Canada, The Netherlands, Australia and Japan also figure in the mix, along with another 40 or so countries. A big shout out to The Columbus College of Art & Design in Ohio, who were our top ranking educational domain.
WHAT THEY READ
By far our most clicked story of the month was the story of Laura Pahl, and her exercise in online plagiarism. Thanks for all the traffic Laura - in your honor, I included your photo at the top of this story (which was kindly provided by the Lewis University website :) Drop us a note to let us know how you're doing, preferably in your own words.
The other two main stories of the month were also the highest rated search terms on Google that drove people here. Jellio's post on the Filativa popup store generated a lot of interest, and managed to capture top spot on Google for that word. And our feature on Gary Brolsma & American Idol got our audience numa numaing.
Other posts that generated a lot of clickthroughs - Backmasking, Voicevertising and Hurly Burly
FEEDS & FEATURES
This month we also started to feature our RSS Feeds more prominently, and consequently our RSS readership tripled, with nearly half of those viewing our headlines as part of My Yahoo. The biggest story amongst our newsreader subscribers was Aquaman's smoking gun theory of what happened to KC Armstrong.
Looking at the moblog, our most popular image by far was that of the mysterious flying object I caught on camera from the window of my plane en route to Chicago. This just sneaked in for this month, as it was fortuitously posted on April Fool's Day...
And that's about it for April. Please tell your friends about us. If you hear a cool story, let us know, and let's all do this again in 30 days.
