Go watch some very untalented people under-perform the old standards. Even in this day of William Hung and American Idol losers, this stuff is pretty bad.

Another underground/viral ad concept is doing the rounds. The main site is at Bovine Unite, but there's also the requisite blog (which is kind of a half-hearted affair). So, any guesses on what's being sold here? Chick-Fil-A (which has created stuff in the past with cows protesting in an effort to stop people eating burgers) is an obvious answer, and I guess, as we're talking beef, Burger King has got to be on the contender list. Anyone got any other ideas?
Apparently all will be revealed May 5th.
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
Set against the backdrop of a deteriorating Afghanistan, The Kite Runner is the fictional story of a boy named Amir and his relationships with his hard to please father and his eager to please servant. Amir is a selfish little kid and he does some horrible things in this book to gain his father's affection. But as an adult he eventually finds himself on a path towards redemption.
This is a heartbreaking story but also an educational one. It shows the downfall of Afghanistan and it's people during the Soviet war in the 70s and the Taliban rule up til 2001. As time goes on, the characters that begin this book happy and free-spirited all suffer in one way or another as the country they love crumbles around them. For most of us Americans who never gave Afghanistan much thought before 9/11, it is interesting yet tragic to read about it as it devolves into the devastated country we forcibly invaded a few years ago.
Beyond the historical level, though, this is mainly a story about character and history on a personal level. About dealing with your own past and the person that you grow up to be.

While we're on the subject of extravagant purchases...
Winged Foot Stables is offering 24% shares in race horses that actually run the east and west coast circuits. Talk about a great Father's Day gift..and investment possibility. Ask for Dennis, a really nice guy who can tell you all you need to know about the horses.
I'm checking out Light The Fuse for my pop. (It's ok, he won't read this)
According to some reports, it's between Clive Owen & Daniel Craig (pictured). I hate to state the obvious, but he's no Connery.
A quick check of our server logs show quite a few people reaching this site via search engines who have typed in the search word “Coulrophilia”. Obviously, we hit on a trend with this earlier post, so I thought I'd follow it up with a link that I wish I'd added to the original blog - “Everyone LOVES a clown”.
Brrrrrrr.
Ever thought about buying your own island, just for the hell of it? Then consider this:
The World will consist of between 250 to 300 smaller private artifical islands divided into four categories - private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. Each island will range from 250,000 to 900,000 square feet in size, with 50 to 100 metres of water between each island. The development is to cover an area of 9 kilometers in length and 6 kilometers in width, surrounded by an oval shaped breakwater. The only means of transportation between the islands will be by marine transport.
Let's hope they're running some kind of discount on Belgium.
An interesting looking trailer over on the Apple site for Night Watch aka Nochnoj Dozor (what is that - Polish?) Part of it feels to have an Evil Dead 2 vibe going on. Haven't had time to see what info I could dredge online, but thought I'd at least share the link to the trailer.
