Status: Not Dead Yet
As every online news organization in the world poises to launch their "Pope Dies" pages and obligatory over-wrought obituaries, inevitably a few will jump the gun as gawker.com reports. And according the Drudge, the AP reports that the Vatican has found the need to deny the rumors of his death at least once so far.
Hopefully the media can curb their appetite a little longer.

News of American Idol hopeful Scott Savol's past legal problems has hit the Internet.
Nobody digs up dirt like The Smoking Gun.

I'm probably behind the curve on this one, but has anybody tried the Dodgeball network? I read about it last week in New York Magazine.
Basically, you create a network of friends on the site (like Friendster, iSpace, etc) but then you can text message the whole lot of them when you're out and looking for drinking buddies, etc. Seems pretty cool.

Google introduces Google Gulp:
"At Google our mission is to organize the world's information and make it useful and accessible to our users. But any piece of information's usefulness derives, to a depressing degree, from the cognitive ability of the user who's using it. That's why we're pleased to announce Google Gulp (BETA)’Ñ¢ with Auto-Drink’Ñ¢ (LIMITED RELEASE), a line of "smart drinks" designed to maximize your surfing efficiency by making you more intelligent, and less thirsty."
On April 2, I would have probably bought this (meaning both "believed" and "purchased").

As first reported by our own Jellio, the weather is getting nicer. That's good news for everyone, unless you're a pasty teen in Maryland. Some Maryland school districts classify sunscreen as a "controlled substance," which requires a doctor's note.
From ZeroIntelligence.net: "If you had a very young kid, and they put it in their eyes, it could hurt them," said Judith Covich, Montgomery County's director of health and student services.
But help is on the way. Maryland legislators are getting involved, pushing a bill that would require schools to grant all kids sunscreen access. Because what this situation needs is more laws.

Dude, did you just french kiss a smurf?
Remember blueberry Slush Puppies. How cool would it be to have a machine in the office?

It's an 80's revival...just found a great site for classic arcade games.

First of all, remember to set your clocks ahead on Sunday.
Check out a couple noteworthy shows at the Whitney...Ellen Gallagher explores race, identity and historical traditions,
and Tim Hawkinson, who gave us UberOrgan, basically dissects his own body.
See why the Broadway revival of Virginia Woolf is getting such amazing reviews.
Go to the opening of a new architecture show...New York Now at the Center for Architecture.
Remember the Shake Shack opens on Monday.
And finally, you may have heard about a long-anticipated movie that opens today...a comic tale with an all-star cast, multiple storylines and some startling make-up. Don't miss it.
As you may have read over the last few days of posts, I've been on a business trip to Chicago. You may also have seen the moblog pictures I posted while I was there. Since we started The Moblog Project, I've made it a habit to shoot several snaps a day, uploading the best one or two to the site while on the move. But that means a lot just get deleted.
So I was sitting here going through my phone directory deleting images, and came across this one, which I took from the plane somewhere over Detroit. (Click on the image above to get a larger version). The view from a plane always looks so majestic with the clouds and all, but my crappy camphone lens just couldn't capture it properly, so I gave up.
I'm not exactly sure what that is - maybe it's a mark on the window. I certainly don't remember seeing anything at the time, or I would have, you know, run SCREAMING DOWN THE AISLE. But then, as I remarked in my earlier post, I definitely felt a weird vibe going on on that journey.
Huh, weird.
