Although Blogs are a fairly contemporary phenomenon, many people were keeping online diaries from the early days of the web. When I first bought a modem and went online back in 1995, a regular haunt of mine was the diary of a New Yorker named Mark Thomas, who wrote under the nick "Sorabj". His posts were eloquent, melancholic and thought-provoking.
Searching google today, I found that Sorabj is still posting. His archives go back to 1994, but his posts are as fresh as ever. Definitely recommended if you have a few hours to kill.
