For the past 18 months, I've been freelancing (researching examples, writing sidebars, etc.) with three former co-workers, the authors of the upcoming book Why Business People Speak Like Idiots. Available March 2, the book builds on the 2004 Clio Award-winning "Bullfighter" campaign for Deloitte Consulting.
Idiots talks about why things have gotten so bad, points out four main traps to avoid, and provides a ton of examples of business idiocy.
(One quick example I love -- this was an Arby's FAQ: "Arby's sounds like exactly the franchise I'm looking for and I like the quality and uniqueness of the food as well as the new building design. Whom do I call for more information?" They were understandably tired of hearing that over and over again.)
More Dilbert than How to Win Friends and Influence People, the book is aimed at anyone who feels a little uncomfortable using phrases like "think outside the box" and "action item." Anyway, our site is fightthebull.com. We've got our Bull Blog and a few other things running right now. Tell your friends.
