There's more to life than Bacon...

title.gif

I got intrigued by Evil Rich's earlier posting about baconwhores.com (classic concept) and dug around online to find out who was behind it.

Turns out Matthew Vanderzee has created a few of these spoofs. Other than the Bacon Sisters, my favorite was Store, "Where Stuff Can Be Bought". That stuff being such desirable possessions as "A Few More Minutes", "Legroom". "The Will To Live" and "Green". I guess there really are some things money can't buy

Are You The Artistic Type?

typedrawing.jpg

Typedrawing is a new application site that feels like the GE Imagination interactive ad on steroids. Sketch with type, and share with your friends, or browse the gallery of submitted works. Nice idea.

Hint: disable popup blockers or the site will not load properly

S.A.D. (Save Arrested Development) Post

ad.jpg

I admit, this is pretty nerdy. I'm almost embarrassed to post it. But when a cause this worthy comes along, I have to put pride aside.

Arrested Development is a fantastic Fox show on the verge of cancellation. I'm shocked that Futurama gets nearly a decade and AD gets a season-and-a-half. So watch it. Next episode is Sunday, March 6.

Also, here's a cheesy petition site.

From now on, I'm taking my timesheets seriously.

Two former Ogilvy & Mather execs were found guilty "of plotting to overbill government's $1 billion Office of National Drug Control Policy account to cover a $3 million revenue shortfall on the business," Adweek reports. They face up to 5 years in prison, with sentencing set for May 16.

I briefly met one of the guilty, Shona Seifert, at an interview at Ogilvy back in 2001. She didn't seem like the type who would (plot to) overbill the government to cover a revenue shortfall. Then again, I'm not sure that's a trait I could spot.

Product Placement Awards

kumar.jpg

brandchannel.com has announced the 2004 Product Placement Awards.

Some good stuff in this lengthy article. Here are some nuggets:

’Ä¢ Pepsi wins for Overall Product Placement (7 placements in #1 movies in '04); Apple gets the Lifetime Achievement Award (from Short Circuit to Something's Gotta Give; Star Trek IV to Seed of Chucky.)

’Ä¢ Spiderman 2 digitally edited out all the Dr. Pepper placements outside the U.S., since Dr. P doesn't have much of an overseas presence, and replaced them with a beverage called Mirinda. (Winner of the Photoshop Award for Achievement in Revisionism.)

’Ä¢ Napoleon Dynamite-inspired "Vote for Pedro" t-shirts cracked the Top 25 of t-shirts sold in the U.S.

’Ä¢ And, for inspiring stoners everywhere to get out on the road in pursuit of little hamburgers, the The Coca-Cola Kid Award for Achievement in Title goes to Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle.

404 Error

Whoops! We're not sure if it was your fault or ours (probably yours, we're good that way) but you've encountered a FATAL ERROR!!! Or at least, a pretty grumpy one.

Specifically the Latvians who run our server are telling us in a weird accent "Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 5]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtfeed' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580), Comrade!". Ain't life a bitch.

If you want to vent, email our slacker of a webmaster. Otherwise, we'd suggest going back, using search, or clicking around aimlessly on this page like a moron.

Have fun.
